Things that are wrong with, and good about Microsoft (and Windows)

Let me begin by stating what's good about Microsoft Windows on the desktop market. This point was only valid until recently (since there are more competitors now such as Chrome OS). Windows saves non-linux users from Mac OS / OSX (the OS of the devil). That's not a trivial thing. It's also an alternative to Linux for those who aren't that much into computers.

WinAPI (the windows programming application interface) isn't so bad either. Neither is DirectX API. They are both useful and sane.

The biggest problem with Microsoft are their endless patents. They try to take patents for everything they do which hinders technological development a great deal. Microsoft tried to patent XML once.
